Win a year’s free energy with E.ON Next by upgrading to a smart meter

  • E.ON Next is giving residential and business customers the chance to win free energy for a year - in the form of bill credit equivalent to typical annual energy usage.*
  • The prize will be applied as bill credit to the accounts of 10 residential and five business customers.
  • To be eligible, customers must have a smart meter fitted by 8 August.

E.ON Next has launched a new prize draw, with winning customers set to receive a year’s worth of free energy.

Eligible customers, who book and have a communicating smart meter successfully installed by 8 August, will be automatically entered into the draw.

Each winning residential customer will receive £1,920 in bill credit, while each of the five winning business customers will receive £3,600, applied as monthly credits over 12 months, directly to their energy accounts.

The prize draw will take place on 22 August, T&Cs apply.

Julian Lennertz, Chief Commercial Officer, E.ON Next, said: “Smart meters are already helping millions of customers take control of their energy use by making it easier to budget, save, and use energy more efficiently. With this prize draw, we’re excited to offer an extra incentive: free energy for a year to 15 customers who make the switch.

“If you’ve been thinking about upgrading, now is the perfect time. Book your appointment today to ensure your smart meter is installed by 8 August and secure your chance to win.”

E.ON Next has installed more than 5 million smart meters across the UK.

Smart meters give customers the ability to monitor their energy use in real time, helping them better understand and adjust their energy consumption habits to potentially save money. They also send meter readings automatically to the supplier, saving time and ensuring more accurate billing.

Smart meters are installed and set up at no extra cost for E.ON Next customers.

Notes to editors

*A year’s free energy (residential) is calculated based on Ofgem typical usage based on the Q2 2025 Energy Price Cap rates (£1,849). An additional c.3.8% credit amount has been included to allow for future price cap fluctuations. A year’s free energy (SME) is calculated based on typical E.ON Next SME customer usage, combined with current average unit rates and standing charges as of 26.03.25.

Prices and comparisons quoted correct at time of issue and based on an average dual fuel bill using OFGEMs definitions of medium use typical domestic consumption values of 2700kWh for electricity and 11500kWh for gas. Exit fees and T&Cs apply.
