The Greener Game: Providing grassroots clubs with top tier energy support
When grassroots football clubs get energy support through our collaborative project with the FA, they're getting the best.
The Greener Game – an ongoing project forming part of E.ON Next’s partnership with the Football Association (The FA) – has now performed energy surveys at over 30 grassroots football clubs and County Football Associations (CFAs) across the country, with many more on the way.
Each of these surveys – or energy audits – results in a detailed report with recommendations for energy efficiency measures including insulation, solar PV, batteries and heat pumps, as well as a breakdown of costs and potential savings. Following an approval process, eligible clubs can even receive funding to carry out some of the recommendations they’ve received.
Each audit report includes:
- Photos of all parts of the site that have been assessed.
- A detailed assessment of current energy costs.
- Recommendations for how clubs can save energy independently, potential upgrades, and additional solutions.
- Estimates for the potential energy, carbon, and cost savings clubs can expect to make by following the recommendations.
We’re proud to offer this kind of support to grassroots football clubs. Every penny we help them save on energy bills through funded installations is money that can be reinvested in the communities they serve. And even before installations take place, participating clubs are receiving top-tier support to help them better understand and take control of their energy use. Read on to find out why.
E.ON Control Solutions: Powering the Greener Game
Each and every Greener Game audit is planned and performed by E.ON’s Control Solutions (ECS) team, a leading provider of Building Management Systems (BMS) working with the commercial, public, IT, residential, retail and pharmaceutical sectors.
This means that grassroots football clubs up and down the country can receive the same high-calibre support and advice enjoyed by leading industrial manufacturers, hotel chains, and distribution networks, delivered by top-tier professionals in metering, verification, data analysis, and project management.
The energy transition needs participation from everyone, and we want to make sure everyone reaps the benefits. That’s why the E.ON Control Solutions team is proud to offer the same quality support to local clubs such as Staveley Miners Welfare FC and Moulton Football Club as they’ve provided to clients including:
The Canary Wharf Group, one of London’s largest property groups, who have successfully reduced their carbon emissions and enjoyed substantial energy savings with help from ECS.
The Ritz, London’s best-known hotel and a Grade II listed building, which thanks to ECS now has advanced remote control of its BMS settings, allowing quick response to HVAC issues and confidence that guests will always be comfortable.
Southampton City Council, which has reduced its CO₂ emissions by 150 tonnes each year and has saved £140k worth of energy with help from ECS.
With customers across a variety of industries and more than 7,000 active Building System Management connections, the Control Solutions team is providing sustainability at scale, but with the Greener Game they’re bringing that same knowledge and experience to individual clubs and communities.
More than 200 grassroots football clubs have already registered their interest in getting involved with the Greener Game, and with fresh audits completed every week and new phases of the initiative on the way, we’re providing these pillars of their communities with top-of-the-league energy advice, helping them to reduce their bills, and making new energy work in all corners of the UK.
