
E.ON Next launches ‘Next Gen Home’ to provide low carbon tech with no upfront cost
Next Gen Home will offer customers a modular, all-inclusive energy package to help lower the cost-barrier of low carbon technologies - pilot scheme allows homeowners to benefit from solar panels, batteries, heat pumps and EV chargers, heat pump servicing, and energy, all for a fixed monthly fee
E.ON Next is launching a first-of-its-kind pilot to help make low carbon technologies, such as solar panels and heat pumps, more affordable for UK homeowners. Next Gen Home will combine several home energy systems and technologies into one, simply financed, easy-to-manage package, including the cost of the energy customers use.
The 12-month pilot will be made available to 20 E.ON Next customers across the Midlands from July before being rolled out to all eligible UK households in early 2026.
The pilot will allow customers to benefit from around £20,000 worth of energy saving equipment, including solar panels, batteries, a heat pump and servicing, an EV charger, and a home energy management app, without having to pay a lump sum. Instead, customers will pay off the value of their assets through a fixed rate finance agreement of up to 10 years, and make monthly payments based on their existing energy consumption and affordable pricing. Those taking part in the 12-month trial will also receive a 90% reduction on the cost of installed assets - paying for just one of the ten-year contract.
By removing the upfront cost, Next Gen Home will use state-of-the-art digital technology to optimise energy use to meet the needs of individual households, making greener, cheaper, and more energy-efficient properties a reality for more people.
The Next Gen Home trial, which marks another significant step in E.ON UK’s goal to lead the transition to new energy, aims to show that, with proper financing schemes in place, sustainable homes can become a reality for the many, not just the few.

Next Gen Home builds on E.ON UK’s work to lead the UK’s transition to clean energy. The company recently launched a battery trial with Northern Powergrid, which is providing customers in Crowle and Starbeck with free batteries to lower households’ monthly electricity bills by up to 15%.
Earlier this month, E.ON also announced a $4m investment in Allume Energy to support the growth of SolShare – a world-first technology that overcomes the technical and ownership barriers that have prevented people living in flats from benefitting from free solar energy by delivering each resident’s solar allocation when they’re using energy.
