Celebrating one year of the npower Business Solutions Foundation - with an extra £5 million of funding

Last year, npower Business Solutions (nBS) launched the nBS Foundation. A year on, Anthony Ainsworth tells us about the impact this support and funding is having for communities across Solihull and Leeds. And now, nBS is adding an extra £5 million of support, bringing its total funding to £10 million.

“It’s hard to believe that it has been just over a year since we launched the npower Business Solutions (nBS) Foundation. Providing grants of up to £100,000 to community and not-for-profit organisations located within a 50-mile radius of our offices in Solihull and Leeds, we have supported 89 projects during our first year, distributing just over £2.8million in funding.

The nBS Foundation was set up with a specific aim of supporting the many ambitious not-for-profit organisations, charities and educational institutions across the Midlands and Yorkshire. Those organisations which are eager to make long-lasting change but need the funding to turn their ambitions into reality.

It is incredible that in just one year, we have funded 190 solar panels, over 200 full and part time charity roles, six electric vehicles, 15 redeveloped outside spaces and the renovation of more than 20 buildings and community spaces.

We recently celebrated our successful first year with events in Birmingham and Leeds, which saw us welcome representatives from many of the charities we support, as well as dignitaries including the Lord Mayors of both cities.

At these events, I was proud to announce we are committing a further £5 million to the nBS Foundation, bringing its total funding to £10 million. This means we can continue to support projects that are taking vital steps to decarbonise and safeguard our world, support the growth of responsible businesses, promote social innovation, and champion local skills or employment.

Both events also unveiled a new photography exhibition, featuring several of the projects the nBS Foundation has supported over the past 12 months. These exhibitions have now taken up residence in our Solihull and Leeds offices and will be available for our colleagues, and anyone visiting us, to view.

To say I am proud of the impact the nBS Foundation has had on the local communities where we are based is an understatement. We have been able to support some of the essential projects, charities, community groups and educational organisations across both regions that give hope to some of the most vulnerable people in the towns and cities across the Midlands and Yorkshire.

So, the message is – there is new funding available and we are now accepting applications for our second year. If you know, or are involved with, a suitable organisation who could be eligible for our support, please visit npowerbusinesssolutions.com/foundation to find out more."
