Eid E.ON Trinity 2025

Celebrating culture and supporting the community through charity this Eid

E.ON’s Nottingham team came together to celebrate Eid with a vibrant event full of food, culture, and community spirit - raising over £1,000 for charities supporting those in need.

At E.ON, we believe in celebrating the richness of our diverse cultures and the power of coming together to support one another. That spirit was in full force during our recent Eid celebration at our office in the centre of Nottingham – a day filled with joy, delicious food, beautiful traditions, and a collective commitment to giving back.

Eid ul-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, a sacred month of reflection, compassion, and gratitude for many of our colleagues. While rooted in Islamic tradition, our celebration focused on the universal values Eid embodies: generosity, community, and shared joy. It was a chance for us all — regardless of religion or background — to come together and appreciate the cultural richness within our teams.

The event was a vibrant affair, with colleagues invited to dress in their traditional best, take part in fun activities like henna painting, and of course, share a meal together. From 12pm to 2pm, the office buzzed with conversation, laughter, and the aroma of delicious dishes as people took breaks and lunches to join in and hear about each other’s Ramadan experiences.

But this day wasn’t just about celebration — it was also about compassion and charity. Through the henna stall and a collaborative online fundraising campaign, the team proudly raised over £1,000 in support of three incredible charities:

  • Salaam Shalom Kitchen (Nottingham) – The city’s only joint Muslim and Jewish weekly kitchen providing hot meals to those in need.
  • Help the Homeless (Leicester) – A dedicated group offering food, supplies and services to the homeless community.
  • Homeless Aid UK (Bolton) – Supporting vulnerable individuals with food, shelter and care.

These organisations make a real difference in people’s lives every day, and we were proud to support their incredible work through our celebration.

Aisha Zia, one of the event’s organisers, beautifully captured the essence of the day:

"Eid is about generosity, renewal, and community. It’s a time to come together and share joy, but also a time to give. Being able to collect for the food bank and raise funds for charity meant we could all take part in that spirit. I'm so grateful to work in a place where our cultures and contributions are valued."

Mohammed Lal, who played a key role behind the scenes, also reflected on the team’s incredible effort:

"It was more than just a party — it was a real team achievement. From designing the fundraising page to the colleagues who brought in food and helped run the day, everyone made this happen. It just shows what we can do when we bring our energy and heart together."

Aaliya Malik also added:

"It has been incredibly rewarding to be part of something like this - Both personally and professionally. This was a great initiative, and it has been amazing to see colleagues come together and support - whether through fasting, being curious or showing support in other ways. Proud to be part of a company that truly lives and breathes inclusivity.”

The art of community

The turnout was amazing, the food even better, and the memories will certainly last. But perhaps the most meaningful takeaway was the reminder that culture and compassion go hand in hand. Our celebration of Eid at E.ON wasn’t just about one tradition — it was about all of us coming together, learning from one another, and using our shared strength to make a difference.

Here's to many more events that honour the diversity of our people, support great causes, and bring us closer as a team.
