Beating the cap: Households on the E.ON Next Pledge tariff to save over £21 million by the end of the year

More than 560,000 customers have beaten the Energy Price Cap with E.ON Next’s tracker tariff, Next Pledge, and are set to save a combined total of more than £21 million by the end of the year.

Next Pledge is a 12-month fixed-term product, with prices that automatically adjust each quarter to remain below the price cap. If the cap falls, so does the tariff, ensuring customers always pay less than the price cap rate.

The typical dual fuel household on Next Pledge will see a saving of £50* compared to the price cap, based on average usage.

Next Pledge is currently priced at £1,799 for average annual consumption, while the current price cap (for April-June) stands at £1,849.

From 1 July, customers on the Next Pledge tariff will see their rate drop, in line with the new Energy Price Cap. The average annual bill for a typical direct debit customer using gas and electricity will fall by £130 to £1,669, with the Q3 2025 price cap reducing to £1,720.

Julian Lennertz, Chief Commercial Officer of E.ON Next, said: “Our tracker tariff was the first of its kind in the UK, allowing Next Pledge customers to consistently beat the price cap.

“With over 560,000 customers set to save a combined total of £21m by the end of the year, we’re proud to continue as playmakers in the energy sector by delivering real value for our customers.”

The Next Pledge tariff is available to new and existing customers with payment via Direct Debit and has no exit fees.

Notes to editors

  • The total number of customers reflects the total number of non-live and live customers on Next Pledge since November 2023.
  • The total saving is reflective of previous customer actual savings per meterpoint on Next Pledge since November 2023 (£15,347,764.75) and predicted annualised usage of live meterpoints on Next Pledge as of 29th Apr 2025 (£6,089,981.30). Meterpoint savings calculated as 'Total Annualised Usage (kwh)' and 'Overall actual usage - non-live (kwh)' multiplied by 'Saving per unit (Elec & Gas)'. Saving per unit in comparison to SVT.

Prices and comparisons quoted correct at time of issue and based on an average dual fuel bill using OFGEMs definitions of medium use typical domestic consumption values of 2700kWh for electricity and 11500kWh for gas. Exit fees and T&Cs apply.

*Next Pledge is a 12-month fixed term tracker tariff with variable rates that are always lower in comparison to the Ofgem Price Cap, that applies to standard variable tariffs. £50 saving is applied as a reduction on unit rates split across both electricity and gas (£25 saving per fuel) based on Ofgem average dual fuel customer. Actual savings depend on usage and region. Customers need to pay by Direct Debit and agree to have a smart meter installed where eligible. T&Cs apply.
